Our Story

In my career, I have mainly dedicated myself to two areas: the steel industry and standardization. Fortunately, at different stages, I successively served as the Chairman of the World Steel Association (WSA) and the President of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). These experiences of serving in international organizations have allowed me to appreciate the vastness and diversity of the world.

During my 27 year  work at ISO, what impressed me particularly was what I learned from Devico. Due to the differences between developed and underdeveloped countries in the world, billions of people, just like us, have never truly experienced a happy and dignified life throughout their lives. Therefore, ISO has set its long - term strategic development goal as making international standards omnipresent. Because different religious beliefs, political concepts, and ideologies are difficult to change and cannot be imposed forcefully. However, as a technical institutional tool formed from the bottom up, standards are free from political or ideological overtones. They are a globally - used "language" and the most effective means to achieve global connectivity.

After retirement, I deeply realized that I am just an ordinary person. Even though I once served as the CEO of a Fortune Global 500 company, my life remains simple and plain. Thus, an idea came to me. I want to contribute most of my lifetime earnings to causes that are committed to promoting world peace and sustainable development, enabling all humans to lead a decent, equal, and dignified life. At the same time, I hope that more like - minded institutions and enterprises will join us in improving this work.
